How did you do it?

I hear this all the time.  At my wedding in April 2005, I was just over 193 pounds.  I felt oversized and uncomfortable in my own skin, but too lazy to do anything about it.  In August 2005, my husband and I were looking at pictures from the wedding.  Pictures lie, but not much.  I wasn't happy with what I saw and neither was my husband.  Together we decided to lose our extra weight in a slow and safe method.

In the past year (and a bit), I have lost a little over 50 pounds and dropped 8 clothing sizes (women's).  I went from using walking as my primary exercise (a great choice!) to training for a half marathon later this spring.  When people ask me what I've done, I always start off with saying, "I eat chocolate every day."  And it's true.  A healthy weight can be accessible for anyone without certain medical conditions (talk to your doctor if you think you might have a condition that would prevent you from losing a bit of weight).

Now I have people who know me from before commenting, "You're skinny," or "How did you do it?"  It seems like such a big thing, but everyone can make the small changes to becoming healthier and losing weight.
